We are pleased to inform you, that “Ji” magazine issue #18 is already available in hard copies and Internet version since the beginning of October. The whole materials are dealing with the main goal of the issue “Ukraine, Russia, Belarus: Three Projects”. The editorial aimed itself to show various points of view on the formatting and embodying of national state projects in the post-communist Eastern-Slavic countries, which appeared on the former USSR space, to compare the ways of search for the own national identities and main future trends, to evaluate those models as considered “projects”. Saving the traditional dichotomia and design specifics we divided this issue to the four blocks.

The first one contains the articles and materials of the general character, those first of all, that tell about European identity, post-Soviet countries and the EU relationship’s, the prospects of integration processes on the European continent : ”Landscape After The Battle. To The Typology Of Post-Communist Transition Period In Europe ” by French political scientist Jaques Rupnik, “Is The Fourth Reich Possible?” by Y.Zeltser (Paris), “Scientific Categories of Geopolitics And Experience Of State Geopolitical Situation Analysis” by O.Palamarchuk (Kyiv), “The Forming Factors For A Prospective Portrait Of Military-Political Situation In Europe” by Ye.Yolkin (Moscow), “Ukraine, Poland And The Debates About The Future Of The EU” by K.Bachmann (German journalist that lives and works in Warsaw), the speech of the President of Czechia V.Havel “European Defence And European Solidarity” and the interview of the European Commission Commissioner in Enlargement Affairs G. Verheugen “The People Has To Make A Decision On The Problem Of The EU Enlargement To The East”. The web-version is supplemented by the short story fragment of M.Mandelbaum (USA) “The Future Of Nationalism” and by the appeal of T.G.Ash (Great Britain), M.Mertes (Germany), J.Rupnik (France) and A.Smolar (Poland) to the European society “Who Would Support The European Enlargement?”.

The Chapter “Ukraine” contains the digest of analytical research of Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council, of Institute for Strategic Studies and National Institute of Ukrainian-Russian Relationships “Ukraine 2000 And Further: Geopolitical Priorities And Development Scenarios”, the program article of “Ji” editor-in-chief T.Voznyak “Project Ukraine: Decade Summary”, the generalizing observations of Ukrainian scientists V.Kuz’menko “Human Development Megatrends In The Expand Of New World Order Of Civilizations And Ukrainian And Russian Place In It ”, M.Ozhevan “Ukrainian National Idea And The Culture Policy Of Overtaking Modernization” , A.Yats’ko “National Security In The Context Of Modern Geopolitical Imperatives”, A.Hutsal “Ukraine Between The Past And The Future”, the short stories of Moscow journalist A.Okara “Ukrainian Fogs” And “Russian Sun” . Ukrainophobia As A Gnostic Problem” and social research specialist from Lviv Ya.Nevelyuk “Neutral Line”. The problems of regional peculiarities and sub-projects which are embodied first of all in Galychyna are discussed in the articles of Lviv authors - Yu.Kvik “ Galician Alternative” and I.Tanchyn “is Russian Separatism Possible In Ukraine?”, as well as history scientist from Leipzig A.V.Wendland “Russophilia: One More Ukrainian Project? Comments To The Unimplemented Desire”. Poetic interpreting of actuality in the poetries of V.Tsybul’ko “Glory” and “Olympic Games’ 80” is a good illustration to the described trends.

Russian scientists and analysists whose original pieces are enclosed to the web-sites “Another” and “The Russia’s Future” are represented in the chapter “Russia”: A. Kara-Murza “Russia In The “Ethnocracy-Empire-Nation” Triangle”, G.Pavlovskij “A Blind Spot. Information About “The Byelovyezha People”, V.Makhnach “Empires In The World History”, A. Kara-Murza “Between Euroasia And Asiope”, V.Krasil’shchikov “Imperial Modernization In Russia”, I.Olyejnik and D.Yudin “Roman Club Phenomenon And Russia In 21st Century”. An interesting analysis of social and political life in modern Russia is made in the translated publications of Moscow Public Scientific Fund: “Russian Political Culture At The Eve Of 21st Century” by A.Panarin, “The Fate Of Russian Communism” by S.Kortunov, “Liberalism In Post-Communist Russia: A Search For Identity” by B.Kapustin. An article of Kazan’ journalist S. Nasybullin “From Sunrise To Sunset. Tatarstan Sovereignty As An Axis Of Russian Federation” expresses an interesting glance on the Tatar component of the modern Russian stateship. T.Batenko, a political scientist from Lviv published his magazine version of Putin’s political biography “The Second President. Strokes To The Portrait”. The short stories genre is represented by the pieces of the prominent scientists S.Avyerintsev (Moscow-Vienna) “Family Horizon”, R.Pipes (Boston) “What Russia Has To Take For 21st Century And What To Leave In The Past?”, B.Paramonov (New York) “Pegases And Bed Bugs” . As a literature illustration the fragments from the novel of V.Yerofeyev “Russian Soul Encyclopaedia” are published.

The chapter “Belarus” contains the following articles: analytical research of Minsk University professor A.Rozanov “Belarus: Foreign Policy Vectors”, observations of A.Smalyanchuk (Grodno) “Belarus In 21st Century: Geopolitical Situation And Attempts To Form The Own Policy”, articles by W.Pawluczuk (Bialystok) “Belarus And The Polish Deal” and K.Bondarenko “The Land We Surrendered Without Fight”, biographical sketch of T.Batenko “Alyaksandr Lukashenka: An Attempt Of Political Portrait”. A lot of attention is paid to the cultural interpreting of the modern situation in Belarus, expressed in philosophic stories of Lviv journalist I.Balyns’kyj “Belarus: Dream-Country. Internal Recensions” and writers from Minsk -A.Yekadumav “The Homeless Nation From The European House”, I.Babkov “Ethics Of The Frontier: Transculture As A Belorussian Experience” and “Belarus - Ukraine: A Travel To The Limit”, A.Antsipenka “Marginals And Marginal Consciousness”, V.Akudovich “A Non-Existing City”. The short stories by O.Kapenkina (Minsk) “Belarus: Nomos Logics”, and O.Horelyk “Belorussian Temptation” serve as artistic illustration to the chapter content.

The Chief of Political Research Centre “Nova Khwylya”(“New Wave”) K.Bondarenko and professor of journalism faculty of Lviv National University I.Balyns’kyj were the curators of this issue. We invite you cordially to look through the “Ji” issue #18 and to follow the information on our web-site! The next issue is planned to be dedicated to globalization process and anti-globalistic trends.
